A place to gather can become a place of opportunity. For years, women in a Vanuatu community met in a simple hut to build friendships and pass on practical skills. Today, the aging structure is no longer suitable for gatherings, and its leaking roof makes it difficult to store sewing supplies. Without a usable meeting space, these opportunities for learning and connection have been interrupted.
The Sewing House project will provide a new hut where women can gather, share their knowledge, and teach sewing skills to the next generation. Young mothers and other women will have the opportunity to learn from experienced sewers in a supportive community.
These skills can make a meaningful difference in family life. Women will be able to sew for their own households, saving money, and create items to sell for additional income. Beyond these practical benefits, the Sewing House will restore a place for fellowship, encouragement, and learning across generations.
