Country: Cameroon
Organization: Women’s Auxiliary of the Union of Baptist Churches in Cameroon.
The Multifunctional Center is an initiative of the women’s group, auxiliary of Union of Baptist Churches in Cameroon. The Center was built in 1984 with the goal of improving the Baptist women’s standard of living through practical training. At the beginning, the elderly mothers had the vision, and the training was conducted to meet the needs of the housewives in the basic areas
- Sewing and Crafts
- Catering
As the result, most of the trainees have succeeded in carrying out some generated income projects and it has addressed financial issues within their church, family and community.
Then, the option for training young girls, aged 12 to 20, and women, aged 21 to 50, was developed with the double aim of
- fighting against social challenges such as juvenile delinquency, early marriages, undesirable pregnancies, prostitution, human trafficking, domestic violence and illiteracy;
- helping them to build self-esteem and confidence, run their own business and care for their families/communities. Their experience is impacting others.
In order to expand the foremothers’ vision, office secretariat and computer training have also been provided.
With the help of the grant from the 2021 Day of Prayer, the Cameroon Baptist Women’s Auxiliary would like to add a Library Space with the intention of occupying the appropriate groups wisely and preventing them from the above mentioned social issues. In addition, many of them are not used to that kind of space as public libraries no longer exist in the area.
The library would include:
- A meeting room for women’s spiritual activities
- A manager’s office
- Exhibition and storage cabinets
- Various versions of Bibles, encyclopedias, illustrated books for the children ministry, etc …
- Tables, chairs and stools.
The Library project aims at transforming lives through education and evangelization as non Baptist members also would visit the Space. The Cameroon Baptist Women’s conviction is that it may impact the communities. So, apart from their conviction to win souls and their willingness to serve God, their desire is that every Baptist girl and woman in Cameroon should enjoy reading and should be informed of the changes around the world. With regard to the bumper harvest at Jesus’ return, their heart’s desire is the need to reproduce discipled leaders in churches for His Glory.
Thank you for helping to make an impact in women’s and girl’s lives by investing in this library project!
