On February 1, 2021, the military seized control of the Myanmar government and the country’s elected leader was placed under house arrest. Since that time, all ethnic and religious minorities as well as actors of conscience and conviction have been in grave danger. At least 1,500 people are known to have been killed in year-long protests against the coup. The average age of the casualties is only 17-years-old. Due to the volatile political situation, the lives of all young people across the country have been impacted, including reduced access to education and increased need for healthcare.

Through your support, the Myanmar Baptist Convention Women’s Department is offering Community-Based Health Care and Nurse Aid Training. After completing the training, students receive a certificate that helps them earn a living and assist with the healthcare needs in their churches and communities.

Myanmar is going through a very difficult time, the darkest chapter in our history and many young men and women have had to flee their villages for safety reasons. As their houses, schools, and churches are being burned down, many have no future to look forward to. Empowering them with nurse aid training will help them to stand on their feet and move toward a stable career.
